Have You Observed or Seen the Intrinsic Beauty of an HPHT Diamond?

High Pressure High Temperature (HPHT) Diamonds are amazingly and intrinsically beautiful and indistinguishable from natural diamonds by the human eye.

HPHT diamonds are genuine, mined diamonds. They are suitable for diamond buyers who want top color and clarity, at a substantially lower price, all with GIA certificates. They wear like all other top quality natural diamonds.

HPHT diamonds have the same characteristics as the world’s rarest gems:

  • Like all other diamonds, these beauties are formed in volcanic sources
  • GIA prized D, E, F, G and H colors
  • .50 to 9.0 carat sizes available
  • Superior clarity ranging from VVS2 to Flawless
  • Security—the diamond will maintain its appearance and natural properties forever
  • Accompanied by GIA Certificate

How are HPHT Diamonds created?

The process of heating natural brown diamonds to improve their color is a type of diamond treatment known as HPHT (High-Pressure, High-Temperature.  Nearly all “white” diamonds contain some degree of brown or yellow color.  Specifically, these are diamonds not fully crystallized when released from the volcano.

The HPHT method can also be applied to diamonds containing nitrogen (Type I).  Nitrogen turns the diamond yellow, and the HPHT method makes the diamonds nearly free of nitrogen, which makes the stones colorless.  The process in further detail entails using a cautiously controlled, scientific procedure using high pressure and high temperature to complete nature’s process.

Atmospheric pressure (70,000 atmospheres) and temperature (3,682°F) conditions are required to bring a diamond to its fully “mature” state. The number of diamonds exposed to the HPHT process has increased, and the technology has advanced at a pace to allow for easy identification.

Every HPHT Diamond is submitted for grading with full disclosure.  The withholding of such information is a violation of Gemological Laboratory Rules and Regulations.  Gemologists can detect HPHT-treated diamonds.  The FAQs surrounding the submission of diamonds for grading can be found at eglusa.com/faqs/.
